Our Stories

Our Stories

We have celebrated major milestones from a wide spectrum of services offered to our clients. Here are a few mentions...

Construction Contracts
These can be quite technical involving engaging documentation such as bills of quantities and financial instruments. However our firm has successfully prosecuted claims based on building contracts and on behalf of contractors. These include a building contract case at the commercial court against a prominent oil multi-national and an arbitration against prominent non- government organization over building contracts.
Copyright
We have handled copyright litigation on behalf of our client, an established Architectural firm, against a prominent real estate company. Consequently, we have gained invaluable experience in this novel area here in Uganda. Substantial damages for breach of copyright and passing off were awarded to our client. We have also consulted for and prepared license agreements for clients to preserve original musical compositions and literary works.
Design and Supervision
We enforced a Survey, design and supervision contract on behalf of our client, a prominent firm of architects against a major telecom in Kampala, even if no formal contract was signed between the parties. It involved consultancy, detailed design, remodeling and creating models suitable for the telecom’s new look retail outlets throughout Uganda
Bids and Tenders
Our client successfully sued a state parastatals for illegally cancelling a tender to dispose a vehicle purchased by our client after the fall of the hammer. This was after negotiations failed. In addition to this, we have also advised a number of foreign clients on local compliance requirements necessary for competitive bidding in Uganda.
Labour Law
Our firm (and its predecessor in title) has been active in Labour and employment consultancy and litigation since 2002 ranging from such courts as city hall to the civil division of the High Court. In 2012, our clients in a class action received judgment against one of the liquidated banks. We have also advised clients on the Employment Act, 2006 and the requirements necessary for legal compliance by both the employers and the employees.
Public Sector Consultancy
In 2013, our Team Leader was appointed as Lead Counsel in the impeachment proceedings against the Mayor of Kampala Capital City. In 2015, he was appointed by the President of Uganda as Assistant Secretary to the Uganda National Roads Authority Commission of Inquiry. In 2018, he was also appointed by the President of Uganda as Deputy Secretary to the Commission of Inquiry into Land Matters.
